Obviously I had to go and see THE dress
Princess Diana’s Revenge Dress is currently touring from London to Hong Kong and Geneva before heading to New York for auction in Sotheby's in December 2026
The Postcard Edit: One Perfect Moment
📍 Sotheby's, London
When I heard that Princess Diana's legendary Revenge Dress was on public display, I couldn't help but wonder... did she know it would become iconic? Well, let me tell you, if you think it looks stunning in pictures, it’s even more striking in person!!
It really is something else. The construction is incredible!! It’s beautifully cut and somehow manages to look both very simple and incredibly intricate when you’re standing in front of it (or in my case, behind, from the side, from the other side... I could have been there looking at it for ages) The silk, well, I’ve never seen anything quite like it. It's like the light is moving across the dress, shifting from deep black to softer, almost blue-grey tones. From one angle it looks soft and almost weightless, then you move around it and you can see the structure and sheen of the fabric
(Yes, I usually get this excited over clothes)
This will be the first time the dress has been auctioned since 1997, when Princess Diana sold 79 of her dresses to raise money for cancer and AIDS charities. In keeping with Diana’s tradition of using her influence to support good causes, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to NHS Lothian Charity in support of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital
Oh, all this brings me to a life update...
My audience has changed slightly recently, and now over one third of my visitors are based in the USA!! A big thank you to everyone who checks my content, whether it's here on Instagram or any of my other platforms where I cross-post. How exciting and what a better way to celebrate than the thought of this wonderful piece of London history travelling the world again, just as so many people did to see her
Save this if you want to see the Revenge Dress in person, duh!!
